ISLAMABAD , Jul 27: ‘Shab-e-Barat’, the night of reverence and fervour, is being observed across the country with religious zeal on Tuesday night. People are flocking mosques to offer night-long prayers to seek Allah Almighty’s blessing on this occasion. Shab-e-Baraat is the 15th day of the Muslim month of Shaban. Laylatul Bara'ah is the night preceding the 15th day of Shaban. The month of Shaban is the eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The fifteenth night of this month is known as Shab-e-Baraat. Muslims believe Allah Almighty showers infinite mercy and blessing upon human beings on the night of ‘Shab-e-Barat’. Ulema and religious scholars in their sermons would highlight the true teachings of Islam and various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) so that the followers could lead their lives in line with the Quran and ‘Sunnah.’ The houses, streets and especially mosques are decorated with colourful pennants and buntings whereas at night these were well illuminated by means of electric lights, candles or even oil lamps.
