PESHAWAR , Jul 29: The flash floods wrought havoc in the Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw, where a massive number of human lives were lost; while, the bridges were washed away in various areas that lay cut off as a result on  Thursday.

The search for three foreigners who were working on Hydro-power projects in Kohistan, is underway.

The downpours in Swat and Shangla and flooding in Swat River caused huge devastations, killing at least 64 people in Bahrain, Madyan, Matta, Kanju and Kabal areas of Swat and Shangla.

Mingora Police Line has been evacuated in view of potential flooding here.

Silk Highway got closed as a link bridge was washed away in rains in District Shangla, causing Gilgit-Baltistan to cut off from the rest of the country.

Also, flash flood washed away at least seven hotels, 60 shops and nine houses in Kalam.

Hundreds of houses including camps of foreigners busy with construction of hydro-power projects were destroyed in persistent rains and flooding in District Hohistan. Three foreigners are still unaccounted for.

A government rest house, Nogram Bridge and Biyari Bridge were washed away in Batgram tehsil of Allai.

At least four people lost their lives in Noshehra flooding.

Various areas including Noshehra Kalan, Azakhel, Khairabad and Pir Sabaq are thoroughly inundated under floodwater. Azakhel Refugee Camp is being evacuated.

The traffic on GT Road was held up by the floodwater from a rain drain. Kabul River surged with more flooding, leaving thousands of people trapped without any relief team making it to their rescue.

In Upper Dir areas, dozens of houses, 21 link bridges, 13 schools, and thousands acres of lands washed away in flood, causing at least 1200 people to get trapped on various places.

In Lower Dir also, the persistent downpours triggered floods, which took away eight people and six link bridges were washed away.

In Tehsil Balam Butt, the house of former MNA Inayat Khan also was washed away in flooding.

In Charsadda, hundreds of houses collapsed as a result of rains and floods. Pak Army provided two boats for rescue operation.

Various areas in Kohat are under facing flood condition as a result of two days of stormy downpours, causing 143 houses to cave in.

The high tide flooding at Gilgit River deluged several villages. Also, the historic Chinar Bagh and abutting Legislating Assembly came under water.

In Khyber Agency tehsil of Bara, at least 40 houses were washed away, where two children were injured as the rooftop of their house caved in.

At least five people were injured in Tehsil Jamrood. Pak-Afghan Road and Mohmand-Bajaur Road have been blocked for traffic owing to the flooding of these roads.

Tempestuous downpours and flood tide caused 20 houses and shops to fall down in a bazaar of Dabori in Upper Orakzai Agency area.
